BK Robotics 2 Australia Campaign
We are thrilled to share with you the remarkable success of our Checkmate Robotics Team in the recent First Lego League competition, Masterpiece, held in South Africa. First Lego League (FLL) is a globally recognized robotics competition that challenges young minds to innovate, collaborate, and problem-solve using LEGO robotics equipment. Participants, typically aged between 9 and 16, engage in hands-on robotics design, programming, and research projects centered around real-world problems.
Despite being first-time participants, these remarkable children, aged between 10 and 13 years old, defied all odds and earned the prestigious Innovation award in the competition. Their project, inspired by the experiences of one team member whose mother lost her sight, is not only innovative but also deeply impactful and inspirational.
The Checkmate Robotics
Team has been invited to represent South Africa in the Asian Pacific Open
Invitational Championship, scheduled to take place in Sydney, Australia, from
July 4th to July 7th, 2024. This incredible opportunity not only highlights
their exceptional talent but also showcases the potential of South African
youth on an international platform.
As the team prepares for
this journey, we are seeking support to ensure that all members, including six
children and two coaches, can participate fully. Additionally, considering the
young age of our participants, we aim to extend this opportunity to include at
least one parent per child. Our fundraiser target is R700,000, which will cover
travel expenses, accommodation, competition fees, and other associated costs.
Your sponsorship will not only enable these young innovators to showcase their talent but also serve as a testament to the power of community support in nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators. By investing in the Checkmate Robotics Team, you are investing in the future of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education and inspiring countless others to pursue their passions in these fields.
