Cameron Medial Expenses Campaign

Starting a funding page is never an easy thing to do. Asking friends and family to assist in our time of need is hard.

Our son cameron was involved in a serious car accident on 28July 2023, whereby a Taxi skipped a red robot and T-boned him.

Cameron sustained not only neck and back fractures in this accident but serious brain injuries. His brain injuries were so severe we have had to put him into St Giles home for the disabled while we continue to give him all the therapies we are able to.

Cameron has been at St Giles since October 2023 where he gets the 24hour nursing care that he needs because of his brain injury.

Cameron has come a long way since his accident.

He has learned to walk and talk again, through his therapies, but in any recovery there are set backs. Cameron has had to have a PEG feeding tube inserted due to him not being able to swallow correctly. Currently everything Cameron swallows, he aspirates which can have serious complications on its own. With speech therapy we are hoping we will be able to remove this tube.

Cameron receives Occupational therapy 3 times a week in order to try get his Cognitive  impairment back. Nica has assisted us in getting Cameron almost out of his post traumatic amnesia (he had an issue with short term memory loss, where he is now able to remember longer than a minute).

Serena his Physio is working on strengthening his body to be able to walk safely and unaided through her 3 sessions a week.

His speech therapist is now working on getting his swallow reflexes strong enough so we are able to remove his PEG tube as well and his annunciation and volume of speech with her 3 sessions a week.

Cameron is not on medical aid the day he had his accident, John and I have been paying for all of his treatments as well as his home at St Giles. This is costing us in excess of R45,000.00 a month.

This doesn’t include the protein shakes and medication he is needing to have to keep him emotionally stable and picking up weight.

We are aware of the tough economical times and with this in mind we would be grateful for any donations to help us with Cameron recovery process
