Support Maples Fight for Life Campaign
Urgent Help Needed: Support Maple's Fight for Life!
Dear friends,
Around 14h30 on Friday the 19th of January 2024 our beloved female ginger cat Maple was attacked by two free roaming dogs who broke a part of our gate to get to her in the back yard. At this stage, we have not been able to identify the owners of the dogs.
She's currently fighting for her life in ICU at TAH Bellville and is in critical condition. She’s dealing with crushed and broken bones, multiple puncture wounds resulting in external and severe internal bleeding, and the vet has already indicated that they will have to amputate her tail. The vet has estimated that it will cost R10,000 or more just to get her stable before they can do any treatment.
BE WARNED! The following footage is upsetting for animal lovers and sensitive viewers! We have video CCTV footage of the attack which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/ez9Y0TEAAMM
At this stage we don’t know how much the vet bills will be, but we know it isn’t going to be cheap. We are providing an estimate for this fundraiser that we believe we may have to pay. We want to give her the best chance at survival. We're pleading for your help to get Maple the care she needs. No amount is too small – every bit adds up. We truly appreciate any support you can give. Share Maple's story, spread the word, and be a part of helping her pull through.
If by some chance the amount raised in this fundraiser is more than we need for the vet bills, we pledge do donate the rest to an animal welfare charity. None of the money will be used for anything other than Maple’s recovery. Proof thereof will be published after we have paid any bills due.
A bit about Maple:
------------------
She is a special cat born in November 2018. She had a tough journey before finding her forever home with us in July 2020. Despite facing neglect in two previous homes, Maple is a unique kitty with a rare female ginger coat.
What makes Maple stand out is not just her appearance, but her extraordinary personality. Growing up with dogs, she learned their language, so instead of the usual cat meow, she has a bark-like meow.
Despite her tough past, Maple is lively with a mix of innocence and mischief. She does silly things, like jumping into a full bathtub thinking it is empty, and she's even a master at opening cupboard doors. With a collar proudly reading "Stout Gat," Maple enjoys being a couch potato.
Along with her playful antics, Maple is also very forgiving and patient. Her love brings joy and laughter to her home. She is fast and zips around like a racing car, leaving everyone amazed.
Maple's enchanting personality has won over neighbours, visitors, and vets. Despite being a beloved family cat, Maple's love extends to everyone she meets.
Thank you so much,
Anastasia and Eugene
