World Ladies Fly Fishing Champs Campaign

As most of you who are my family and friends will know, about two years ago I joined the Gauteng North Fly Fishing Association to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people and spend more time fly fishing. I started fishing provincial trials and received the opportunity to fish for the GNFFA Ladies Team at two Ladies National Championships. I managed to finish 4th and 10th respectively at each event and was eligible to go to the Protea Ladies Selection Trials. Just over two weeks ago I received a phone call from the Head Selector inviting me to be part of the Protea Ladies Team to represent the country at the upcoming World Ladies Fly Fishing Championship in Vyssi Brod, Czech Republic from 19 to 25 May 2024.

This is an opportunity that I couldn't turn down, but it came with some really challenging time frames to prepare for the event and source sponsorship opportunities as my call up came 'out of the blue' and at 'real' short notice.  As fly fishing is not a major sport globally, all trips overseas to represent the country are self funded. Our team captain has indicated that each angler is in for around R100 000.00 to cover all expenses for the duration of the championship.

The support I have received so far from a personal and corporate point of view has been fantastic and a great start to helping me achieve this opportunity. I am still working on ways to generate additional funding and was told about creating a Back a Buddy campaign that I could share with family and friends to provide an easy platform for anyone who is keen and may be able to help in any form. I am definitely moving in the right direction and really appreciate the way everyone has chipped in to help me achieve my goal. Thank you all for your amazing support.
