Wits Student Surgical Society. Who are we?

The Wits Students Surgical Society is a student-based platform for medical students and aspiring medical specialists interested in the art and science of surgery. The Society was started in August of 2010 with the support and guidance of the Wits University Department of Surgery.

The Wits Students Surgical Society prides ourselves in the work we do in every aspect that we define in our objectives. All our projects are done with the utmost transparency and all money donated will either be donated directly to the registered Non-profit organisation or given to the Surgical Society with clear understanding as to where the donations will be used.

Kilimanjaro Challenge 2014?

In our ongoing effort to reach out to our community and provide opportunities for the students within The University of Witwatersrand Medical School, The Wits Students Surgical Society has decided to climb the highest mountain on the continent, Mt. Kilimanjaro. This will be a climb that we hope to accomplish for each climbers’ self-achievement but more importantly to support the Smile Foundation who works together with academic hospitals to assist children who require facial reconstructive surgery which will change their lives.

How can you help?

We ask for your support in making difference by sponsoring our students to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. Your donations, small or large, will make a huge difference! All funds raised will be used to support the climbers and the Smile Foundation.
