Woodrock Animal Rescue are celebrating Mandela Day 2018 with a spirit of Giving Back.

HELP US STERILISE 100 ANIMALS for MANDELA DAY! Woodrock Animal Rescue are celebrating Mandela Day 2018 with a spirit of Giving Back. We plan to hold a township sterilization drive from the monies raised from Woodrock’s Mandela Day 2018. We will sterilise animals that we collect from the surrounding townships (Atteridgeville and Olivienhout Bos) at our clinic premises during the month of August 2018.

Our goal is to raise R67 000. This will enable us to sterilize 100 animals.

When considering what Woodrock Animal Rescue, could do to make the biggest long-term difference in easing the burden faced by animal rescue organizations, the decision was unanimous; to put into ‘ACTION’ our mission of Sterilisation! It is obvious that the root to eradicating the dilemma facing all shelters today, is to address the overpopulation* of dogs and cats by instilling a regimented programme of Sterilisation.

• 1 unsterilised cat procreates over 500,000 offspring in seven years of which 9 out of 10 are euthanized due to overpopulation.
• 1 unsterilised dog procreates 67,000 offspring in 5 years, of which 6 out of 10 will be euthanized due to overpopulation
