Woodrock Animal Rescue are celebrating Mandela Day 2017 with a spirit of Giving Back.

Woodrock plans to hold a mass sterilization day from the monies raised from Woodrock’s Mandela Day 2017. Together with Councillor Betty Ringane (who manages the social initiative programmes in Atteridgeville Township (Atteridgeville WARD 107).  We have scheduled the township outreach sterilization day in Attridgeville on the on the Friday 18th August 2017. 

Our goal is to raise R40 000. This will enable us to sterilize 100 animals.

When considering what Woodrock Animal Rescue, could do to make the biggest long-term difference in easing the burden faced by animal rescue organizations, the decision was unanimous; to put into ‘ACTION’ our mission of Sterilization! It is obvious that the root to eradicating the dilemma facing all shelters today, is to address the overpopulation* of dogs and cats by instilling a regimented programme of Sterilization.

We appeal to our supporters to donate R67 or more in keeping with the Mandela denomination of SIXTY-SEVEN years of fighting for freedom.

• 1 unsterilized cat procreates over 500,000 offspring in seven years of which 9 out of 10 are euthanized due to overpopulation.
• 1 unsterilized dog procreates 67,000 offspring in 5 years, of which 6 out of 10 will be euthanized due to overpopulation
