Friday 23rd of February was the last day of an alien-clearing work programme from which a number of local people benefitted. No less than R37 000 had been raised from a few donors to pay workers to clear alien invasive plants on the north facing slope of the mountain below Mountain Drive. In this area there had been alarming regrowth of long-leaved wattle and black wattle, favoured by a fire and good rain. The workers made excellent progress. But the initial funds are now depleted. This is why we are now asking you to consider making a contribution to collectively match the initial R37 000, which will enable the workers to finish the job and restore this part of the mountain to the place we all love. Together we can make it happen - a win-win outcome for people and nature!
