I hope this message finds you well. Today, I'm reaching out to all of you with a heartfelt plea on behalf of our dear friend, Richard Burgess, affectionately known as Dicky. As many of you may know, Dicky recently underwent a challenging leg amputation, marking a significant turning point in his life.

Undoubtedly, facing such a profound change comes with its share of emotional and physical hurdles. Yet, what truly defines us is not the challenges we encounter but our collective response to them. This is where you, our extended family, come into play.

We've launched a fundraising campaign to support Dicky in acquiring a prosthetic leg, but the journey towards recovery involves more than just this crucial piece of technology. Dicky will also need rehabilitation to adapt to his new circumstances and regain his strength. Furthermore, considering the impact on his mobility, a new automatic vehicle is essential for his day-to-day life.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. It's a gesture of solidarity that speaks volumes about our community spirit. Alongside one-time donations, we are also encouraging monthly contributions, recognizing that the recovery process is a long journey. Your ongoing support will provide Dicky with the sustained assistance he needs throughout the potentially lengthy rehabilitation period.

A basic prosthesis can cost anything from R80,000. An above-knee amputation is a minimum of R120,000. This excludes re-fits, which cost anything from R60,000.
