Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
A few days ago the crazy idea of running the Vic Falls Half Marathon was born. The half marathon covers 21.2Km through the town of Victoria Falls and surrounding areas. The run will also cross the famous Vic Falls Bridge for a brief visit into Zambia. The run is going to offer some magnificent scenery in one of the most spectacular destinations in Southern Africa.
We have decided to run this event to raise money for Children in the Wilderness (CITW) as this is a charity organisation with a good cause and close to our hearts. CITW is an environmental and life skills educational programme that focuses on the next generation of rural decision makers. It is one of the few programmes aimed at bridging the divide that exists between communities and wildlife. Click on the link to the left for more details of CITW.
The money raised will be donated directly to their newly opened Zimbabwe branch. We feel this is fitting, since we are running in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is a magnificent country with huge potential. We are all well aware of the challenges they face but we remain confident that it will once again become the neighbouring country we all grew up to love.
None of us in the team are huge runners and we have never participated in such an event. Running this event is going to be a huge challenge for us but we are looking forward to the journey ahead. We would like to encourage you to follow us on the build up to the event and make a donation to this worthy cause.
Regards,
Ash & Stu
