Hello. My name is Tsholofelo Morake, a prospective first year Bachelor of music : extended curriculum student. I was doing my foundation year last year hence, I said first year. I am from a small village in rustenburg called Mafenya, where majority of the youth, struggle to pursue their dreams, due to lack of access to proper education and lack of financial support. But despite the trials and tribulations that came with growing up under such circumstances, I managed to secure a full scholarship to attend one of the best schools in the rustenburg region, which evoked my love and pasion for music and provided me with a lot of opportunities which, together with my hard work helped enroll me into wits university.
Music has always been a passion of mine, but growing up in an unprivileged environment meant that I had less knowledge about it. That is until I got to highschool, where I was introduced to the different genres, instruments and different ways to learn and create music, which then evoked my love for music. With a lot or learning and research I found that my dream is to provide help to those who are struggling with mental illnesses and psychological illnesses through Music therapy and music composition.
I am very passionate about what I am studying but I am unfortunately unable to register to study for my official year of study 1 (2024) due to not being able to secure proper, stable funding for the year 2023, which forced me to be self funded with not enough funds to cover my tuition, therefore leaving me with an outstanding debt of R35 840.61. In order for me to register, I need to atleast pay 50% of the outstanding debt which is about R18 000.
