Personal message
My name is Tshifhiwa Zwanga Maudu , a 21 year old medical student currently in my 4th year of studies at the University of the Witwatersrand.
I come from a small township called Makwarela in northern Limpopo ( Venda ). I passed my matric with 7 distinctions in 2020 and began my university studies in 2021 studying towards my current degree . At that time I was not funded and was considering a student loan . I was then approached by a sponsor/ organisation who payed my first year fees and promised to pay my fees till I finished my degree. This was a great relief as it meant I did not have to continue with a student loan .
The sponsor has since not paid any of my fees since 2021 , leaving me with major outstanding fees . Due to not receiving payments from the sponsor, Wits has denied me access to register till a portion of the fees are covered . The sponsor on the other hand seems to be having financial problems and will not be able to continue paying for my fees .
As a dedicated medical student on the path to becoming a healthcare professional, I am driven by a profound commitment to make a tangible difference in people's lives. Pursuing excellence in medicine is not merely a personal goal but a shared aspiration to contribute meaningfully to society. However, the journey toward medical proficiency demands not only rigorous academic pursuit but also significant financial resources.
I have made sure to prioritise academic excellence and I have been able to be part of the Golden Key International Honour Society . Similarly, I have also prioritise helping and volunteering when I can . I was part of the SRC Health Subcommittee in 2022 and was the Mental Health Peer Officer of Campus Health in 2022. I also volunteer at Platform Matriculants Programme as a treasurer where we help matric students apply for university and guide them in career choices.
I would really appreciate our help in giving me a chance to contribute in making a positive difference in our community’s health .
I currently am in need of help to cover my outstanding fees
I appreciate your consideration.
All funds raised will be paid directly to the relevant institutions.
