Personal message
I am Lynette van Bosch, and I run The Cat House with all my heart and soul. Currently, I care for over 130 cats that have been abandoned, dumped, or brought to me for help. I dedicate my days (and yes, most of these days are up to 18 hours long) to feeding, nursing, caring for the cats, and dealing with all kinds of diseases and injuries.
When finances allow, I take steps to control the breeding by neutering and spaying. To do all this, my friends and supporters (near and far) will come together and support me on my mission to provide a loving and safe Home for these fur babies.
The Cat House's weekly expenses (which include mostly cat food and litter) add up to R4 400, which means I need approximately R20 000 to feed the cats on a monthly basis.
But these are not the only needs the cats have. The Cat House is situated in a rural, old mining town where poverty is rife, and the cats' safety is a significant concern. My ultimate goal would be to construct a wall around the premises to keep the cats on the property and away from harm.
Erecting catios would be a dream come true for me, as it will enable me to keep track of the cats at all times and ensure that they are safe (and this again will allow me more free time to tend to other Cat House issues).
With the recent heavy rainfall, the shelter has experienced a lot of flooding, and proper structures would make life much easier for the cats and me.
We will work in the Dominionville area (approximately 30 km from Klerksdorp) in the North West Province.
Caring for so many cats is a huge financial burden, and any donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in ensuring that the cats have a safe, loving, and comfortable home.
The town of Dominionville is not an ideal environment for a cat shelter. Being in a remote and impoverished area, the limited services and frequent power outages make it challenging to provide proper care for the cats. The lack of resources and support from the community makes it difficult to meet the needs of the cats, who are often seen as nuisances and face harsh living conditions.
With no other cat shelters for miles around, The Cat House is the only hope for these cats in the area. But with the community's support, it becomes increasingly easier to provide the necessary care, food, medical attention, and safety that the cats require.

The Cat House

The Cat House in Dominionville, a rural old mining town in the North West Province of South Africa, is in dire need of any support it can get. The shelter is home to over 130 cats, which are either dumped, abandoned, or brought to The Cat House because they are not cute anymore, is run by Lynette Van Bosch (The Cat House Mom), a selfless lady who has given up everything she has ever known to care for these cats in need. Lynette moved to Dominionville a few years ago to care for her ailing parents, but what started as a simple act of kindness has turned into a labor of love. She works tirelessly to make sure each and every cat is fed, cared for, and given the chance at a better life.
The Cat House is the only shelter for miles around and the nearest town and vet are over 30 km’s away. Lynette takes care of these cats no matter the circumstance, but unfortunately the costs of feeding and caring for these cats adds up to R4400 a week, and the shelter needs a monthly income of R20 000 just to keep the cats fed, not to mention the monthly mortgage and utility bills, vet and medicine bills that also need to be paid.
The Cat House is a non-profit organization that receives no funding, and they need your help to make the shelter a safe and secure place for all the cats. The dream is to make The Cat House a no-kill shelter and safe haven for the cats.
