I am a 20 year old student doing her fourth-year pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of the Free State and I am writing to request funding for my education in 2024. I was previously on nsfas but I lost my funding and have to appeal. To get a response from nsfas can take up to 4 months and by then the registration period will be closed. I am in desperate need of funds to register and be able to get study material. I opened a small business in hopes of income to help out at home on rainy days but having to balance between running a small business on my own and my academics simultaneously weighed heavy on me given my mental state at the time, this caused me to underperform and get defunded by NSFAS. I come from a very poor background, and my mother and stepfather rely on his old-age sassa pension fund and recycling bottles to survive. I am the first in my family to complete my Matric and get into a higher institution and due to this fact I have no one to turn to for financial assistance. I nor my guardian qualifies for a loan as we do not possess a pay slip and our income is less that R3 000/month. I would like to ask for your consideration of my request for funding. I am not looking for a handout, but rather a second chance to persue my dreams and finish my degree so as to help my family and work for my community. I understand that this is a big request, but I am confident that you will not regret giving me this chance. Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope that you will see the potential in me and give me the opportunity to keep furthering my studies so that I can finish my degree and change the lives of my family as well as my community for the better.
