This year I will be participating in the PACT Kennel Challenge on the 28th of October 2023 at The Crescent, Umhlanga Ridge. With this initiative we hope to educate the public on daily struggles faced by animals who do not have a voice of their own/ to speak up for themselves.

Despite it being against the Animal Protection Act 17 of 1962 (Law) to chain, abuse or let an animal suffer in any way; the plight of chained animals, specifically dogs in KwaZulu Natal is a prominent case for sore eyes.

 

Be it in rural or residential areas, many owners still chain their dogs to poles, trees or fences- with recent cases being dogs tied to a stack of tyres and left on the side of a road and one dog being tied to a bridge. 

These animals face a lifetime of misery sometimes without food, shelter or water for days leading to weeks or months. Living in their own mess until some die. 

 

Phoenix Animal Care and Treatment is a rescue organisation who strives to rescue, treat and rehabilitate stray, abused, neglected and abandoned animals within Durban. The PACT Kennel Challenge seeks to raise awareness of the daily fight for justice of animals left chained to suffer until they are rescued or until their deaths. 

Donations raised will go toward food bills, vet bills and Kennel boarding fees to provide a better quality of life for many animals. Please consider donating toward my cause.
