Personal message

Thank you for visiting our Children in the Wilderness/Tour de Tuli 2010 fundraising page.
The father-son team of Sidney and Aaron will be participating in raising funds for Children in the Wilderness through riding Tour de Tuli, which is more than just an endurance mountainbike ride...allow us to provide you some background.

Children in the Wilderness is a charity program that hosts vulnerable, rural children that live alongside National Parks and Game Reserves and teaches them life skills and the importance of conservation. The Children in the Wilderness program aims to develop environmental leaders who are inspired to care for their heritage so that they become the custodians of these areas in the future. Children in the Wilderness exposes children to their wildlife heritage, builds and strengthens their capabilities to cope with life's challenges and educates them with the life skills necessary to actualize their greatest potential.

To raise funds for this cause, Children in the Wilderness are hosting an annual 6th epic mountain bike tour in Africa.  It will be a four day adventure ride, called Tour de Tuli and it will take place this summer.  There will be 200+ mountain bikers cycling through more than 200 miles of largely untouched wilderness on mostly single track trails following various animal migration routes in restricted wilderness areas in South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.  Each group of approx. 20 riders will have a game ranger on mountain bike accompanying us and we will be sleeping in tents set up by the volunteer staff that we will meet up with each night.

Children in the Wilderness is a wonderful initiative that positively touches and impacts the lives of the least fortunate children in Africa.  It is managed by people who have a passion for what they do in some very challenging environments and situations.  I am honored to be one of the riders on this journey raising funds for an incredible cause!

When we return from this epic journey we will be posting images for you to have a peek into this adventure.

Donating through the backabuddy/easygiving website is simple, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate. Your contribution will directly benefit Children in the Wilderness, which will have a direct influence on bettering and changing the lives of young people in Africa.  Please note that your donation will be made in South African Rands...a rule of thumb is each US Dollar is approximately 8 South African Rands, thus a R800 donation will be about US$100. You can also visit http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic for more up to date currency conversion information.
