Personal message

The Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA were hit during the lootings and riots taking place in our area on Sunday, 11 July 2021. Our office was ransacked, the staff kitchen broken into and we have lost many, many valuable resources which we need to do our everyday work.

The last 16 months have had a devastating effect on your SPCA and two instances of theft in a short period have left us in disarray.  We need our community's assistance to rebuild, bounce back, and do better.

Currently, we are not able to get to many, many animals in need, as our communications have been shut down, due to the looting. We urgently need to restore vital infrastructure and resources, to ensure our Inspectors can get back on the road and assist animals in need.

Although our target of R150 000 might seem steep, the costs of technology are steeper. Our Society wishes to raise R50 000 for crucial repairs; R50 000 for technology and infrastructure replacement and R50 000 for necessary security upgrades.

The primary function of the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA is the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. We educate our community on how to best care for their pets, investigate cruelty complaints, and where required, prosecute under the Animals Protection Act.

We are a registered non-profit non-government organization affiliated to the National Council of SPCA’s.

We receive no governmental funding and rely solely on financial support from the community.
