THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your fabulous support, it has exceeded our wildest expectations and we are over the moon. And as for the Vrygrond Library team, well they are literally jumping for joy! And a huge thank you to those of you whom we have never met and got into the spirit of things, we are humbled by the enthusiasm and generosity we have experienced.

A message from Vrygrond Library: "We are very excited and don’t have words to express our gratitude towards all your input and we just want to thank your organization for all the hard work. Thanks for believing in us. We really appreciate all you have done for us."

Our initial target was R10,000 - and we are proud to report that as of today we are sitting on over R12,000 plus an extra R3,100 from Taquanta Asset Managers!

Your R100 = a Summer holiday for a Cape Flats Kid!

Vrygrond Community Library is putting together a 3 day holiday for 100 Vrygrond kids. They'll be going to a camp in Hout Bay, where they'll play games, eat yummy food, have lots of fun doing all the things that kids should, and discover a world beyond their backyard.

MISSION: TO RAISE R10,000

• R100 will give a child 3 days away on the holiday camp.
• We're aiming to get 100 of our friends, family, friends of friends to each give R100.

What is the Vrygrond Community Library?
The Vrygrond Community Library is situated in Vrygrond, a socially and economically deprived community of some 10,000 men, women and children, situated near Muizenberg about 20 kilometres from central Cape Town.

The Libary is pivotal in the lives of the community’s children as it runs afterschool and holiday programmes that are not only educational and fun, but also offer the kids an escape from their harsh living conditions. Many use the library as a quiet place to do their homework, and library staff assess the children regularly in order to monitor their progress.

Why is a library organising a Summer Camp?
“Our mission is arrange outings for the children whenever we can raise the funds. Parents in the community can’t afford to take their kids out, so many of the children have seen little or nothing of Cape Town, their home town. We want to help them realise there’s a big world out there in order to help them realise ‘If I finish my matric, I can be part of this world!”
