Meet our first STELLAR WOMAN© Candidate – Ms Soko

For the last 8 years Ms Soko has worked at a loved Cape Town dining establishment,  diligently managing her section in a busy restaurant kitchen – a tiresome task on the best of days.

Long hours, late nights, lack of sleep and many other factors have continued to exacerbate an existing fibroid condition, along with the lack of resources available in her industry

The result, an 40cm tumour eating away at it’s host daily. As the tumour has grown, internal organs are literally squashed – lungs not able to function at full capacity, iron levels plummeting and so the list continues.

With your help, Ms. Soko can undergo her urgent surgery, spend the required amount of time in a physical rehab facility where she will literally regain control over her body, after years of struggling. In the end, she’ll return to a life she’d forgotten about. A life where she had energy to get up in the morning, a day without pain or discomfort and simply contribute to society as a whole, simply being free from her 40cm tumour.

Ms. Soko is an extreme case, yet many woman walk amongst us, work next to us with similar stories of despair. STELLAR WOMAN was set-up to assist under-resourced woman of all ages in the workplace, that do not have access to the necessary medical screen, treatment or healing facilities.

The road to recovery will be managed by 

Ms. Nomfundo Matlala, an award winning marketing and strategy professional recovering from her second myomectomy performed by Dr C Elliot to correct a near hysterectomy and excessive c-section.

Dr Catherine Elliott who is in full time private practice as a general gynecologist and obstetrician with a sub-specialty qualification in Maternal Fetal Medicine and special interest in high risk pregnancies
