Personal message
The reason why I am swimming and competing for Rainbows and Smiles is: Although I am not a mother and do not have children, I have lost family members and friends to cancer.
I also have a very special place in my heart for children in particular. When I heard of your and Bonnie's stories and the great work R&S do I immediately wanted to be part of it.
I love training and partaking in sport and being able to create awareness and funding for such a great cause while doing what I love is a dream come true for me. In the collage there are two photo's of me with Mickey ears.
I dedicated that race to two amazing ladies and friends of mine (Riana van Niekerk - former professional SA athlete and Jolene Du Plessis - mother and beautiful friend) whom both passed away from cancer in 2016. This is an opportunity for me to do my bit in helping children and families affected by cancer.

The mission of Rainbows and Smiles is to provide emotional, social and financial support to families and caregivers in need when a child or children of that family is diagnosed with a life threatening illness such as cancer. In addition, Rainbows and Smiles encourage childhood cancer awareness to educate in the hope of promoting early detection.
