Hello everyone,

I'm Rudolph Herbst, the father of 23-year-old Shane Herbst.

Unfortunately, Shane has been diagnosed with acute severe ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, conditions stemming from an immune deficiency that causes the immune system to attack his body. Over the last 75 days, Shane has endured the challenges of being admitted to three different hospitals, yet his health has shown no signs of improvement.

Despite the recommendation and utilization of biologics, there has been no positive change in Shane's condition. The cumulative costs of hospitalization and treatment have now reached approximately R300,000. As a last resort, a recommended operation to remove his colon and rectum is estimated to cost around R175,000. Regrettably, both my son's and my own savings have been entirely depleted.
