Personal message

Most cyclist construct their own personal message when they start to raise funds. Bonni, the founder of Rainbows and Smiles, asked if she could personally write Sean and Kerry's page.

Sean is one of the most dedicated and loyal supporters of Rainbows and Smiles; from helping with emergency food, funerals, dreams or essential items, he is ALWAYS there for us.

He is always pulling through in a crisis, and he is always a phone call away when we need him. If the world had more people like Sean, it would be a much kinder and nicer place. He is often the “Rainbow in our cloud.” 

Sean has been a sporting ambassador for Rainbows and Smiles for years, using his natural talent and passion for fighting cancer. He has enabled us to make a difference in the lives of children who need our help the most.

Cancer is not just a health diagnosis; it’s a life diagnosis, and not only for the child who receives it but for the whole family. We think of children dying of cancer, which makes sense: it’s the second leading cause of death in children after accidents. 

But children live with cancer first — a life of challenges, of physical and emotional pain, and an immense family upheaval as the stricken child’s life becomes the focus of family life.

Sean and Kerry will be cycling the 94.7 Ride Joburg race on a tandem bicycle, pushing themselves to their personal limit to create awareness and raise funds. Would you please help them acheive their goal to raise R10 000?

Rainbows and Smiles is a childhood cancer foundation close to Sean’s heart. Sean has been known to make a phone call to a team member to check on our personal mental well-being.

Every year in South Africa, almost 1000 children are diagnosed with cancer. Our socio-economic challenges, and generally poor awareness of early warning signs of childhood cancer, means that many of these children are diagnosed very late into their illness. As a result, they face a difficult battle.

Team Rainbows Riders is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for children fighting cancer. Rainbows and Smiles is a community-based, charitable foundation dedicated to providing emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening illness and their families and caregivers.

The government does not fund rainbows and Smiles, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters and the passion of our volunteers to enable us to do the work we do.
