“Mzwakhe had similar problem, I did not know that he died, I am dying too, I can feel it, I want to quit this thing”, says Keletso, a 22-year-old, who contracted HIV/AIDS through the sharing of syringes when injecting drugs. 8 months ago he injured his vein/muscle whilst injecting, the wound has been growing day-by-day without effective treatment due to unhealthy lifestyle.
He wants to quit but the waiting list for free rehabs is full whilst private one’s cost R38 000 per patient. More than 20 are on the waiting list, however, Keletso’s case is urgent.
