Wheels to Fly!
 
This initiative is for my 46 year old sister, Sam, who is, as some of you may know, in a wheelchair.
 
She has a degenerative neurological disorder (Friederich's ataxia) affecting impulse transmission between the nerves and muscles. Besides the obvious, her vision, hearing and speech have been impaired; basically everything except her intellect. 
 
Sam needs to get out! She is in a motorised wheelchair which, due to its size and weight, is not readily transportable without the correct vehicle, suitably modified. 
 
Sam was forced to go onto disability pension 10 years ago now, and medical aid will not cover any of the cost of a new chair.
 
The money raised here will be used to buy a folding manual wheelchair that is lightweight and easy to transport. Sam will still require assistance whilst out, but at least she'll be able to get there!
