On Sunday 9 April 2017 I will run my first ever marathon - the Paris Marathon. I love running - for fun. In my every day life I run in heels, I run outdoors (for fun) and run a boutique PR agency and lifestyle business. But, I am in no way an athlete - nevermind someone who ever thought they'd attempt to tackle 42km's (in the form of a marathon) in one go!

So, thanks to some sage advice from Carel Nolte (three-time Comrades finisher and the Comrades' number one fundraiser) I've decided to run the marathon for a purpose bigger than "just for the experience" - I'm going to run it for a cause.

I've picked The Smile Foundation :)

They do incredible work in helping children living with facial conditions. By working with SA's Academic Hospitals they put the smile back onto children's faces with corrective facial reconstructive surgery and treatments. "We help children in need of surgery for treatable facial abnormalities such as cleft lip, cleft palate, nose and ear conditions, facial paralysis, burn wounds and craniofacial abnormalities."

So great, right?

Now, here's where I need your help :)

I've pledged to raise R42 195 (that's R1 000 for each kilometre and-a-bit of the Paris Marathon) but I can't do it on my own. I'll need all the support and help I can get to reach my target. Any amount, big or small, will make the biggest difference in making a child smile.
