My mother (45) a single parent of two daughters (25 and 23) and two granddaughters (1 & 4 months) was misdiagnosed in 2020.
2021, Stage 4 colon cancer... They told us to say good bye, This was the most hurtful time of our lives' as our mother is our only family. We cant lose her not yet not so soon!
We tried searching for miracle treatment, we did so much research and concluded to Chemo therapy and radiation and surgeries which did not work due to my mothers cancer cells having 4 different mutations.
My mother was on 5FU, Folfox and Avastin and none of the treatments seemed to control the spread of her cancer they had to give my mother a permanent stoma bag as well as a stent in her kidneys. They told my mother that they could not operate to remove the tumor again as it is close to a major artery and if they cut that she will bleed out on the table.
On my birthday the 11th of May we were told to come to the hospital to discuss my mothers death and the steps following her death. They told us she will most likely pass away due to organ failure or starve to death due to the cancer blocking her intestines. They told us the time is near as she also had sepsis and they did not think that she will walk away from this, the went on to remove her machines and antibiotics as by some sort of miracle her infection levels dropped. The doctors were shocked and could not explain why the one Doctors even said to my mother the West Rand makes them strong.
2023, Peritoneal metastasis... The Doctors recommended hospice. My mothers wishes were clear even in her state of mind at that time she wanted to be home with her daughter and grand daughters.
Having her home and seeing her in pain, panicking over when we need to call someone is the most dreading situation to be in knowing that we can help her and that no call can either.
We did further research as we could not give up hope. If roles were reversed my mother would have climbed mountains for us. She would go above and beyond not just for us but for anyone as she always says "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself"
That is when we discover the Life Shine wellness center in Stellenbosch who has had amazing results with their treatments. My mother went for a consult and had a few treatments and already we could see the difference. She looks like her beautiful self again, she has life in her eyes again and ready to fight this fight. A new profound hope has sparked in us seeing other cancer patients who were once terminal walk around with big improvements.
The estimated treatment plan is set for R1 000 000.00 for the first 12 months of treatment which her medical aid contributes 0% My mother, in her condition still works full time from home to be able to pay for her medical bills and short falls which is not nearly enough.
We are asking for your help in raising funds to further my mothers full recovery journey. we would truly be grateful to any donations.
She can conquer any obstacle, She is brave, She is strong, She is my mother a WARRIOR!
Lord, I come before you today in need of your healing hand. In you all things are possible. Hold my heart within yours, and renew my mind, body, and soul. I am lost, but I am singing. You gave us life, and you also give us the gift of infinite joy.
Give me the strength to move forward on the path you've laid out for me.
Guide me towards better health, and give me the wisdom to identify those you've placed around me to help me get better.
