I've just been picked for the WP 50+ Vets cricket size to compete at the IPT in JHB from 14-19 April.
In 2020 I went to watch the over 50s world cup with my Dad, he played for South Africa in his hey day. We hung out with his mates Graem Pollock, Barry Richards and now the late Mike Proctor at the ground and watch some of the Candian Team play.
I thought hey in a couple of years I will be 50, how great will it be for me to play for SA. Would be amazing for my dad to see.
So I kicked off the road to cricket glory.
Unfortunately in September last year he passed away, but Im still on my Journey.
So far Ive been picked for the WP team to play in JHB in April, i just need hlpe witht he funds. SA cricket nor WP provide puts towards tournament costs or the travel costs.
I need to find the funds for accommodation, flights, myself. Along with covering meals at during the week of the tournament.
We will play 4 games in 5 days and if we make the final we will play a 5th game as a final.
At the end of this tournament a south African side will be chosen to play in the world cup in Sri Lanka.
