I am raising monies for The Recovery Foundation. Every cent goes towards helping those find recovery, we help people get into treatment programs and provide support structures via sports and other means to help create a healthy environment for people to recover. This is in conjunction with the traditional therapeutic processes that are known today. The belief we have is that if environment and social structures change to a more healthy and positive setting, and made more available to the recovering addict in early recovery, we feel their chances of success are increased.

Personally, I am now over 8 years clean and could not even walk 10 meters without losing my breath when I first came clean, yes, I was very unhealhty, skinny and didnt have a clue on how to live a decent life. I am now able to cycle a 109km ride around Table Mountain (This will be my 8th Cape Town Cycle Tour). I have completed many other challenges, including a cycle from Jhb to Durban (675kms). And have qualified for my first Two Oceans Marathon (56km run) and Comrades Marathon. Sports and exercise has been part and parcel of my recovery and has helped me to stay on the straight and narrow. I am also 4 subjects away from completing my BA degree in counselling pyschology. And have many other landmarks I have reached in recovery. I have more purpose now that I can do this to help others.
