Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! Riding The Forgotten Highway is a 1,000km off-road ride for charity, exploring the forgotten trade route to the South African heartland.  The ride was completed on the 4th of May by all four riders who set off from Ceres.  Although we have finished the ride, it is not too late to donate - we will be handing over the funds raised on Friday 16 May and would be delighted with any more donations before then.  If you would like to donate after this date please contact us and we will put you in direct contact with our charity.

We are aiming to raise R100,000 for the development of inspiring pre-schools supported by Ikamva Labantu (Ikamva.org.za).  The first school we are raising funds for, Nqabisa Educare in Khayelitsha, currently has 35 kids aged from birth to three years old, and we will be assisting them with basic learning material and games, other items required by daycare centers by law, and most importantly providing funds towards the continued training of the principal and her assistants. We are in the process of adopting a second beneficiary school.

All funds raised through donations go directly to our charity; none of these funds are used to fund our ride.

Ikamva Labantu Charitable Trust

In the early 1960s, Helen Lieberman and other courageous activists responded to the unjust conditions of South African Apartheid by setting up survival initiatives in the Western Cape. In 1992, the coordination of these initiatives was formalised and Ikamva Labantu, meaning “Future of The People”, was launched as a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Ikamva Labantu’s work focuses on early childhood development, the well-being of older persons and after-school initiatives that keep children safe and off the streets.
