I am attempting the 94.7 cycle challenge in Johannesburg for the first time. Those of you that know me know that I have been a runner for 36 years. I like my feet firmly on terra firma. I am thus a complete cycling virgin.

I chose PETS (Pets empowerment in townships) because I am a huge dog fan. I have 4 rescue dogs, Ruby, Cami, Levi and Zikki and 2 rescue cats, Cleo and Amythest. The four kids we made ourselves. I adopted our newest family member, Zikki, from PETS (Pet empowerment in townships) six months ago. She is a three legged crazy girl who does not believe that she is disabled. She outruns my other dogs, climbs in and out of windows and roughhouses with the big dogs. She truely is a "cheeky, Zikki, Maliki" as she is fondly known as. Due to PETS she was given a second chance at a new life with a crazy, noisy, loving family.

PETS provides education to pet owners in Townships. They also steralize dogs to prevent unwanted litters of puppies and vaccinate to prevent illness. The average age of a dog living in a township is 3 years old. PETS current Vets bill is R60 000. Please sponsor me as I attempt something completely new and support a worthy cause at the same time. Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference.
