Riaans story
 
Riaan is  26 years old, he is a loving partner, an amazing dad, a charming son and an award-winning friend. It all started when Riaan had mild abdomanal pain. Due to not having a medical aid fund the only option we had was to take him to Far East Rand goverment Hospital.
 
After the pain got unbearable, Riaan was admitted to hospital for pain and severe vomiting, at first doctors could not determine what was wrong and he was told to go for an abdominal CT scan. in this process, Riaan had  kidney failure and his body went into shock delaying the CT scan. Once he's kidneys where fit enough for radiology he went for the scan and was immediately prepped for emergency surgery. At this stage they had discovered that he has a hole in his abdomen which required urgent surgical attention, they discovered an Ulsar that had ruptured in his stomach that burnt a hole through his stomach wall causing severe abdominal sepsis.
 
During his first surgery, Riaan had a serious setback. The doctors had to put him on ventilators and on the highest dose of adrenaline to keep he's heart beating and prevent cardiac arrest. On the 31st of January 2024 we were called to the hospital and was told that he needs to go for another emergency operation which unfortunately was delayed due to he's fragile state. That night Riaan showed a slight improvement opening the window for them to do his 2nd operation. It was a very serious and life threatening procedure and all we could do was pray and with the lords grace he pushed through.
 
On the 2nd of February the doctor informed us that there is slight improvement which shows he is fighting. He is curently going through dialysis and is still being kept sedated.  We are raising funds for Riaan's recovery process and anything additional(medication, Dr visits, possible dialisus ,travelling ect) 
 
Riaan is one of few that is slowly but surely fighting and surviving this life-threatening disease.

Riaan, a 26-year-old, beloved partner, father, son, and friend, faced a health crisis when he experienced abdominal pain.

Lacking medical insurance, he sought treatment at a government hospital.

His condition worsened with severe vomiting, leading to admission and a diagnosis of kidney failure. Despite setbacks, a CT scan revealed a ruptured ulcer causing abdominal sepsis, requiring emergency surgery. Complications ensued, necessitating ventilator support and adrenaline to sustain his heart. Further surgery was delayed due to his fragile state but eventually took place, with prayer aiding his recovery.

Currently, Riaan undergoes dialysis while sedated. Funds are being raised for his ongoing treatment and associated expenses.

Riaan's resilience is evident, but prayers and donations are sought for his continued fight against this life-threatening illness.
