The incredible foundation Rainbows & Smiles was bought to the attention of my running group “The T-birds” last year.  Children with cancer go through a lot, and now I want to make a difference in their lives.

I have decided to dedicate my very first marathon, the MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon to children with cancer. I feel it is the very least I can do to make a difference in the lives of these brave children.

A marathon is very far, and I know that I will suffer my way right through to the very end. Please will you show your support and donate towards this venture of mine.

Rainbows and Smiles is not funded by the government, and they rely on the generosity of their supporters and the passion of volunteers to enable them to do the work they do. Follow them on Facebook to see some of the amazing things they get up to… each of the volunteers have been directly affected by the devastation of childhood cancer. 

Each year in South Africa about almost 1000 children are diagnosed with cancer.  With our socio-economic challenges and sadly the poor level of awareness of early warning signs of childhood cancer, it means that many children are diagnosed very late into their illness and as a result, they face many difficult battles.

There is no better feeling than training for such a marathon and doing it with such a humble and wonderful organization.

We are aware that these are difficult times.  But YOUR CHANGE can make a CHANGE.  Please consider donating R1 per kilometre to my marathon.
