Rebecca has been tattooing in Durban for over 13 years, and the time has come for her to pack her machines and head to the UK for new opportunities.
This brings with it some complications - since Rebecca became Bird mom to two rescue finches in the last few years, who have crept their way into her heart as they have many of our clients and visitors!
 
"Bird is a Yellow Fronted Canary, she's almost 3 years old. I found her in the middle of the road as a fledgling (around 3 weeks) 
 
BMO is a Cape White-eye, she is about 4 months old now. She was found by a friend in his garden under a damaged nest.
 
Both babies were syringe fed for a few weeks and then slowly weaned onto solid food. Bird eats fancy seeds and fresh fruit, Bmo eats ants, flies and LOTS of fruit.
 
Without knowing what I was really doing, I handreared these little wild birbs, who've become such a big part of my life. If you've visited Matriarch Tattoo, then you've met Bird, Bmo or both the buggers. They come to work with me every day.
 
I'm not taking any belongings with to the UK, all I want is my family to stay together
 
So its going to be tough - R66000 is the given quote to take both birds over to the UK with us. I am SHOOK. 
 
I'll be here saving pennies and selling organs.
I'm taking commissions for digital drawings, I'll be selling paintings, prints and merchandise in the upcoming weeks and I'll even give you one on one skate lessons if you wanna learn some longboarding techniques! I would really appreciate any kind of support for my Birds."
