Puppy SOS is a division of PACT whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abused, unwanted and homeless dogs in the KZN area. The shelter endured major damage as a result of the recent heavy rainfall experienced in KZN. Currently, Puppy SOS shelters over 130 dogs on its premises.

This outreach is a result of the damages incurred on the shelter caused by the heavy rainfall. On 15 April 2022, a team, including civil engineers, assessed the structural integrity of the buildings that were damaged. The main concerns highlighted from the visual inspection were the leaking roofs, collapsed ceiling boards, flooded rooms, as well as inadequate roof sheeting and compromised timber trusses.

Currently, the animals are exposed to wet conditions, food supplies have been damaged, and the living space for the animals has been reduced due to damages from the leaking roofs and collapsed ceilings.

It is concluded that urgent repair works are needed to be carried out in order to create a safe environment for the animals and caretakers. This fundraiser is required to raise sufficient funds for the structural repair works required on the shelter.

Furthermore, the funds will be used to purchase dog food, towels, beds and cleaning products/equipment required to clean the shelter.

Funds will be used as follows:

1. Roof sheeting to waterproof the existing leaking roofs. (Plastic sheet USB green 250-micron SABS 3m x 30m x 3 rolls).
2. Ceiling boards - approximately 1,2m by 2,4m x 30 panels.
3. Structural steel - angles irons, flashing, bolts, nuts, etc.
4. Corrugated iron roof sheeting.
5. Labour costs.
6.  Cleaning products and equipment.
7. Dog food.
8.  Dog blankets.
