I am Pooja Supersad, a volunteer at PACT for the past nine years. I will be confined to a small kennel/enclosure on the 28th of October, 2023, to raise funds for Phoenix Animal Care and Treatment (PACT) Rescue Organization.

Thousands of dogs are chained or confined to small kennels/enclosures for their entire life. They are forced to 'live' under these harsh conditions that most of us would cringe at enduring for even a few minutes. This makes one wonder whether living such a cruel life is justified as the term 'living.' 

Further to this despicable life of cruelty, many of these dogs are forced to reproduce for the sale of their babies to make a profit for their humans. If this doesn't give one jitter, I don't know what does. And there is more... So, join me through my kennel journey via live streams and various social media posts, where I will share my experience and highlight the plight of dogs in such a situation.

By staying chained to raise funds, I want to create awareness about dogs kept on a chain or in a small enclosure for long periods, if not their entire lifetime.

At the sight of a cute puppy, most people instinctively say "awww" and wish to have one of their own; however, they tend to overlook the fact that this cute little puppy is soon to grow into a dog, which would require space to live and play in, attention and social interaction and would need suitable food and medical attention. 

Often, once the novelty of having a new puppy wears off, these cute puppies are shoved in the corner of the yard, chained up, or put into a small enclosure and forced to live their entire lives in isolation.

My participation in the PACT Kennel Challenge 2023 will enlighten people on the plight of these dogs when they are confined to a small space for their entire day or, worse, their whole lives.

Reaching my fundraising target would mean that I have been able to actively make a difference to the many dogs who have been victims of cruelty at the hands of our fellow humans. Raised funds will go towards assisting abused and abandoned animals taken into PACT's care. 

These funds will supply food and blankets, contribute to medical attention costs/vet bills, and contribute to safe home boarding costs until these animals are adopted.
