My mom's cancer journey began 10 years ago.
 
With no prior history of cancer in the family, it came as a huge shock to all of us closest to her,  when in 2014, she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.
The immediate plan of action, as per her DR's advice, was for her to have a mastectomy & radiation. 
 
Whilst undergoing her first battle with cancer, my mom was also facing overwhelming grief over the loss of a young family member who passed away just months earlier.
My mom went into remission for 4 years, before in 2019, cancer reared its ugly head once again. This time, it came back stronger, more aggressive & determined to defeat her. 
With less than a 20% chance of survival, she moved forward with the treatment.  The chemotherapy and radiation during that year almost took her from us.
 
The embarrassment and shame that came with the hair loss, weight loss, fatigue & constant on lookers was another battle all on its own.
 
Even without being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel & the numerous hospitalizations, she still managed to be the loving wife she always was, unwavering, proud & doting grandmother & pillar of strength to me & our family..often coaching us through this journey & being our shoulder to cry on. 
 
She did all of this, while not only maintaining her job, but maintaining her faith as well - which only seemed to grow stronger as she grew weaker. After 3 blissful cancer free years, we remained foolishly unaware that this cancer had not unhanded my mom. In 2023, she was diagnosed with cancer once again & had to undergo chemotherapy. Not once did she complain, become bitter or resentful. Instead, she continued to fight this dreaded disease with a smile on her face, even more love in her heart & with the faith of a warrior. She continued to be my pillar of strength as we went through the loss of 3 extended family members, 2 of whom passed away from the same disease she was trying so hard to fight. Her love and support through that time, while facing her own demons, is a true testament of who my mom is.
 
After finishing her treatment & going for a routine check up in Jan of this year, we were told that while she fighting breast cancer for the 3rd time, a different type of cancer began to grow. 
We have been advised by her oncologist that for this type of fast growing cancer (nodular melenoma), the only viable treatment option is immunotherapy. 
 
My mom needs a total of 17 treatments. We have received donations from 4 incredible humans, which will allow for 6 treatments.
 
My plea to anyone reading this is to please help me get my mom the treatment she so desperately needs. She has fought bravely against this illness for so many years, now it's time for us to fight for her. I don't believe this is the end of the road for my mom. I don't believe that this is how her story ends. Almost everyone I have spoken to knows someone - whether it be a family member, friend, or acquaintance who has had some sort of encounter with cancer. Cancer has reaked havoc on so many lives & caused so much devastation along its path. 
 
Please help me, help us, help my mom get this treatment, so that her journey can continue.

My mom's cancer journey started a decade ago, shocking us all as there was no history of cancer in our family.

In 2014, she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy and radiation. Despite battling cancer, she also faced the loss of a young family member. After four years of remission, cancer returned aggressively in 2019, with a slim chance of survival. Enduring chemotherapy and radiation, she bravely fought the physical and emotional tolls, remaining a loving wife, grandmother, and pillar of strength for our family.

Despite three cancer diagnoses, she never lost her faith or positivity. Now facing nodular melanoma, she requires 17 immunotherapy treatments, but we've only secured funding for six. I'm reaching out for help to continue her journey and fight against this relentless disease.

Any assistance is appreciated to ensure my mom's story doesn't end here.
