The Cape Town Cycle Tour will take place on the 12th of March 2023
My ride for a child buddy is James, an 11-year-old boy with a golden heart. As a result of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder which is permanent brain damage caused by prenatal exposure to alcohol, James has many cognitive challenges.
Coupled with his cognitive challenges, James is also in remission from childhood cancer, in which he lost his leg. But none of these challenges can keep James down. He is learning daily to work around his prosthetic leg and participate in household games, even if it means he has to be on crutches.
It is a privilege to be able to cycle and use our limbs, so I am going to cycle for James. I aim to raise R12000.00 for James's daily education and health needs.
The Rohloff Group has donated the offline donation of R7,633

Home of Hope

Home of Hope was started in 2005, and we are an NPO that cares for abandoned and abused children and children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD – permanent brain damage caused by pre-natal exposure to alcohol). We are a registered place of safety and we have 19 children in our long term community based foster care.
The organisation also caters for the special educational needs of children suffering from FAS (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome) and neurological challenges, in our Amathemba Learning Centre. There are currently 37 children at our Amathemba Learning Centre.
