Hello, I'm Christelle Burger, and I am reaching out to share the story of my precious baby girl, Nikita Beverley Burger.
Born on November 20, 2022, two weeks earlier than expected, Nikita weighed 2.5kg at birth and has since celebrated her first birthday. Unfortunately, her journey has been marked by a challenge—her spinal cord didn't develop properly.
Nikita struggles with discomfort when sitting for extended periods due to the pressure from her bones. As her parent, all I wish for is to see her lead a normal, pain-free life. To understand the extent of her condition and explore potential treatment options, the next step is to undergo an MRI as soon as possible. Our pediatrician expressed concern about a potential underlying spina bifida, making this diagnostic procedure crucial for Nikita's well-being.
The doctor stated in an email, "This is to confirm that I am requesting an MRI Lumbar spine for Nikita. She has developmental delay with decreased tone in the lower limbs. She also has a dimple on the lumbar spine, and I am concerned about an underlying spina bifida."
In our pursuit of answers and a path toward a healthier future for Nikita, we are reaching out for support.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping us afford the necessary MRI. Our only desire is to provide Nikita with the chance for a normal, pain-free life.
