Personal message

I am reaching out for help as my fiancée urgently needs an MRI for her brain and neck due to her epilepsy, but our medical aid has an exclusion period until the end of October, and the scan costs R25000.

My fiancée has been experiencing "silent fits" since she was 8 years old, with full seizures starting at 16, resulting in numerous injuries such as bruises, open eyes, chin lacerations, two broken jaws, burst eardrums, three broken ribs, and torn muscles all over her body. Each seizure causes her head to hit the ground, and at 37 years old, she has had 22 seizures last year alone, causing significant brain damage and affecting the left side of her face, weakening her sight, balance, and ability to walk without assistance.

She struggles to dress herself, use the bathroom independently, and has limited use of her left arm due to torn muscles. She constantly experiences headaches and migraines, needing an arm sling to alleviate the pressure. Currently unable to work, I am covering all expenses, including those for our 13-year-old son who also suffers from epilepsy and recently needed stitches after a fall.

The stress on our family is immense, especially as my fiancée's mother must assist with caregiving and transportation when I am away for work due to her inability to drive from dizziness and vision issues. I am asking for funding for the MRI scan and associated procedures, as well as assistance for household items like a new fridge, as our appliances have been damaged during load shedding, and I am unable to replace them myself.

Any support would be greatly appreciated in this challenging time.
