Thank you to everyone visiting this page! If you’re here, it’s because you’ve heard about my fundraising trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in June 2019 to support The Avela Foundation.

The Avela Foundation was started by one of my “second moms,” Cami Palomo, who is making a difference in the lives of so many children in South Africa. A staggering 68% of South African children under 14 years old experience significant burn injuries. The Avela Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to helping children burn survivors on their road to phyiscal and psychological recovery so they can discover their full potential, as recovery is a lifelong rehabilitative process. The Avela Foundation already has brought the latest technology and equipment for burn scarring to the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Capetown. 

We are now raising funds to bring a second Lumenis Laser Machine to South Africa and for the U-matter program, which gives psychological support to burn survivors and their families.

My goal is to raise over $5,000 for The Avela Foundation by May 2019. I can’t trek to Kilimanjaro unless I meet this goal, so please help me get there! No donation is too small. And for those of you wondering, 100% of your donation will go directly to The Avela Foundation (I am paying for my travel and the trek).
