In 2016 I won an entry for the Discovery Triathalon through a competition in The Woman’s Health Magazine. I did not know at the time that it was for a Triathalon!

Nevertheless I started training as at that time I could not run, cycle or swim, I know it sounds weird, but that is how it was. Discovery paid for all my lessons, and I just had to go along. Halfway through I decided that I did not want to participate in the swimming so I opted out of that and they then transferred my entry to a Duathalon.

I started training, but half through my Husband took ill and was hospitalised. I eventually completed the Duathalon and Modern Athlete ran a story about me, as I was 68yrs of age at the time.

Sadly my Husband passed away at the end of October (31st) and I went into total depression and hibernation. I did nothing for 2017.

This time I have decided, once again not having been involved in any sport, but am going to tackle the Duathalon only doing the 2.5km run…10km cycle… 2.5km run. I have to now train on my own but have now entered. 

I have entered and will be doing it in memory of my late Husband as it takes place on 12th February, and his birthday is 14th February, Valentine’s Day.
