We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for taking time in reading this.
Mikail and Michan Goliath are young BMX enthusiasts who started their BMX career at Kraaifontein BMX Club, in Cape Town in January 2023.
Mikail, only 9 years old, was diagnosed at the age of 8 years old with severe allergies which does affect his breathing to a little extend on the dusty BMX track but, he (together with mom and dad) takes extra pre-caution to ensure that his love for BMXing is not affecting his health.
Michan, 12 years old, being born with the world's number one birth defect, congenital heart defects (CHD) in December 2011 and was told not to engage in any sports when he was diagnosed, only 4 months old in April 2012, is now not allowing CHD to define him. After 9 heart surgeries, Michan is now a young gentleman and sports enthusiast, taking part in various sports, including representing South Africa on national level in BMX.
Their first BMX competition they entered was in January 2023. They also entered in the SA Nationals BMX Cup 1,2 & 3 over the Easter weekend in 2023, held in Cape Town and both received bronze in their age groups for all three rounds meaning they both walked away with three bronze medals each.
The weekend of the 30th June to 2nd July they participated in the SA Nationals BMX Cup rounds 4,5 & 6 in Kempton Park, Johannesburg competition in which Michan received another bronze medal and Mikail just finished outside the medals and they both managed to qualify for the SA Championship that was held in Durban from the 7-8th October 2023.
The 7th October 2023 they completed the last of the SA Cup competition with both of them having had terrible accidental falls at the same humps in their respective race classes.
Sunday 8th October 2023 they competed in the Champions of Champions in their age groups while battered and bruised but they fought like champions to complete the competition. Although they did not make it on to the podium in the final, they both ended the competition well ending in positions 11th (Mikail) and 13th (Michan) in their respective age groups.
They competed with determination and grace and we are grateful for the memories created and for both qualifying for SA Champs in Durban.
From the challenging races to the electrifying atmosphere, Michan and Mikail truly delivered an unforgettable series. The track itself was challenging and impeccable, providing the perfect stage for thrilling displays of skill and sportsmanship.
The dedication, passion, and hard work put into organizing this exhilarating event in Kraaifontein Cape Town, Kempton Park Johannesburg and Queensburgh Durban was evident in every moment, and we were immensely grateful to have been part of such an amazing experience as first time BMX parents and the boys as first-time competitors. Only one year part of the club, they are already showing endurance and will-power far-beyond imaginable having not cycled prior to them joining the BMX Club. Their ultimate goal is to one day represent South Africa on an international level and take part in the UCI Championships.
2024 is presenting them with yet another year of SA National Cups and SA Championship. The challenge that we are presented with is to upgrade their equipment and gear and to get them to the different venues in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
We as the MG Family is reaching out to you to make this goal a reality for these two BMX enthusiasts.
Your assistance in this matter will be of fundamental importance of reaching these goals.
