Dear Parents
Any and Every donation is appreciated. You are welcome to donate at any time with any amount that you feel comfortable with.
I will keep a spreadsheet of funds raised and spent which will be made available to you if you so wish.
I refer to the fundraising letter sent on the group:
Dear Gr.1 Parents,
Janu-worry is over, and we are now well on our way into the new year and first school term. With that, there comes the opportunity to attend and be involved in a few fun events this year.
There have been some new thoughts with regards to our approach to raising funds for class events, and a majority consensus was reached to make use of the “Back-a-Buddy” crowdfunding system. Many of you may be familiar with this system, but for those who are not, details will be shared with you in due time. We will use this platform to raise funds for our class specific events this year.
As it is your donations as parents that we rely on for these events, I would like to make sure that you are all aware of what events are planned and where the money will be spent during the year.
The main events we have planned and need your contributions for are the following:
• Register Teacher’s Birthday: Mrs Karin Ellis – 28 November
• Class Assistant Teacher Birthday: Mrs Charmaine James – 26 August
• Teacher’s Appreciation Day gift x 2: 4 October
• Year-end Gratitude Gift x 2: Last day of school 5 December
*** Please bear in mind that we have a register teacher and an assistant teacher to cater for in our class.
There are also opportunities to do random acts of kindness during the year for which funds can be used, for instance a Cappuccino, a chocolate, or a small flower bouquet every now and then. Should there be any events during the year for which décor, consumables or odds and ends should be needed, such as the Grade 1 braai, the funds could be used to assist here as well.
At the end of the year, any remaining funds can be used to treat the kids on the last day or be donated to the school for a dedicated project like shade-nets for the teachers’ vehicles or a portion towards a roof/covering for the Amphitheatre, for example.
On the “Back-a-Buddy” page, you will notice that there is a target amount set for the year. To be transparent, how I have reached this target is as follows:
• Six gifts at R550 – R600 per gift
• R1500 for Random acts of kindness and event consumables
• When divided into a class of 27, this is less than R200 per child for the year
Having said that, EVERY and ANY contribution you make is very much appreciated!
I will regularly communicate the fundraising opportunities on our WhatsApp group, and I will keep you updated as to how much of the funds have been used and the balance remaining. Your attendance and involvement at events will also help to make our events this year memorable!
Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have relating to the fundraisers or other events.
