“My Angry Adolescence Divided”

 

I’ve never been to a concert before, and it’s always been a dream of mine to see one of my most favourite artists live. Unfortunately, living in a country that most artists tend to avoid, makes it more difficult. Now after 9 years, Kendrick Lamar is finally coming back to South Africa…luckily, to the city I happen to live in. It’s a chance and experience of a lifetime and I need help to make that dream a reality. I know that on my own, I won’t be able to achieve this.

 

I remember the first time I heard him perform was from a TV in 2014. I was only 8 years old when I heard him perform Swimming Pools for the first time and although I didn’t understand it fully at the time, I understood it to the point where I found myself resonating with the song. It quickly became one of my favourite songs and he quickly became one of my most favourite artists of all time; in my eyes, probably one of the best artists of this century.

 

There’s something about the way he makes his music and strings his words together to make poetry…it’s extraordinary. I’ve dreamt about meeting him in real life, hearing him speak and getting an opportunity to try and understand the way his mind works…no words could explain what this would mean to me, and I presume, to so many others.

 

He is an international treasure, and saying that I want the chance to see him in concert is an understatement. I need to.

 

So please, I understand that I might not have to best reason to need this amount of money but I will be eternally grateful to those of you who can spare even the smallest amount of money to my cause.
