I am Marnus, and Cystic Fibrosis has been a part of my life for 26 years. With incredible support from my family, I've been living a full life at my own pace. Unfortunately, there is no cure for CF, and many individuals with cystic fibrosis pass away young, often in their 20s and 30s due to lung failure. However, ongoing advancements in treatments are increasing the life expectancy for CF patients, with some now living into their 40s and 50s.

A US-based company, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, has developed a "miracle drug" called Trikafta that enhances lung capacity for CF sufferers. Regrettably, this groundbreaking medication remains inaccessible to us in South Africa. The cost of these pills is $36,000.00 per month, which translates to roughly R600,000.00 per month.
