My name is Samkela Stamper... Residing in Peddie and Makhanda in the Eastern Cape in South Africa. I'm raising funds for my 14year old daughter, Lonwabo Stamper to go back to school - she's starting grade 10 at Ladygrey Arts Academy... Also in the Eastern Cape. I'm also raising funds for myself to pay my outstanding debt @ Rhodes University in order to register for my MA.

I'm raising funds in this way because I'm currently unemployed and an out of work artist and community activist about to go back to school and finish my studies at Rhodes University... my Master's in Curatorial Studies. Whilst also working to revive the rural art gallery I started in Peddie in 2018 that's also an art centre for the local kids where we teach them art and run an after school and recycling & gardening programme. 

I have no income whatsoever and Lonwabo's money for her school and boarding fees are paid for by my mother's late estate that's managed by the Government Fund @ the Master's High Court in Makhanda. Because of loadshedding and government's slow system, the money takes sometimes even 6months to reach the school...let alone money to take her to school and pay for essentials such as stationery and books, tuck, toiletries and transport to take her there.

Raising this money means me obtaining my MA & graduating in 2025. And paying for Lonwabo's timely entry into school because in 2023 and 2022 this meant she was late going to school. And struggled for the first and second term because she had no stationery and other essentials that's necessary and other kids have. She lost her self confidence and this affected her school work negatively. And as a single parent, I felt useless and powerless.

Please help me change mine and my child's narrative and get her to school on time. The R9222, 47 we need will do the following;

1. Hire a car to take her to Ladygrey and get me to Makhanda: R2650
2. Books and stationery: R1650
3. Tuck, Data & Airtime: R1850
4. Outstanding Rhodes University Debt: R2122, 47
4. Toiletries: R950
