Personal message

As many of you, my loyal donors, know, I suffer from bilateral vestibular hypofunction, which severely hampers my balance. Until recently, I have managed to continue road running, but my condition has worsened, making me a hazard to myself and other runners. I cannot run in the dark or crowds.

Since fundraising for Mamelani is close to my heart, my husband, Terry, has agreed to run on my behalf - not merely the half marathon, but the full marathon (56km!). We hope you will support us and donate generously. Mamelani needs your support. Mamelani is a community development organisation working in 2 key areas.

Mamelani's Community Health Programme advances access to health and well-being services in communities, and the Youth Resilience Initiative supports young people in transition and the alternative Care sector. Please connect with them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/MamelaniProjects and Instagram @mamelani_ for stories on their work.

Mamelani's youth programme ensures that young people do not fall through the cracks during the critical stage of transitioning out of residential facilities at the age of 18 years. They ensure that young people are emotionally and practically prepared for the next chapter of their lives.

The support Mamelani provides focuses on resilience-building activities, support for further education, and the opportunity to start a paid internship which initiates them into the world of remunerative work. Mamelani's Community Health Programme nurtures resilience and contributes to community health through various activities.

The Wellness Workshops offer safe spaces for learning about health and well-being. The Community Champions Programme supports grassroots leaders and the Community Adherence Clubs, providing community-based Care to HIV-positive patients by facilitating access to treatment, effectively lowering the pressure on the public health system.

Funds will be used to ensure the continuation of activities which strengthens our communities and beneficiaries.
