Personal message

Freecember (Freedom + December) is all about doing a personal challenge for the month of December to raise funds to counter-human trafficking.  This year, being my first year doing this challenge, I am joining National Freedom Network with this amazing Freecember initiative to raise much-needed funds for National Freedom Network to assist them with their vision for eradicating human trafficking in South Africa.

So what is my challenge you ask? Well, I will be cutting out all added sugars in my diet! Yup, so no more sugar in my morning coffee, fizzy drinks or processed foods for the entire month of December. This doesn't mean that I will be going completely sugar-free for the next couple of weeks, I will however still keep foods in my diet that contain natural sugars.

This brings us to why... Through my business, Liberation Legal Consulting, I focus on labour trafficking and debt bondage within the various business sectors of South Africa. This is achieved by assisting businesses to critically assess their business practices and supply chains to enable them to make the necessary changes to ensure fair business practices together with ethical trading and supply chains. I want to, during the month of December, raise awareness on labour exploitation occurring within supply chains, not only in South Africa but globally. I have chosen the no sugar challenge because it is DEFINITELY going to be a challenge for me to cut out all added sugars in my diet since I'm a quick and easy foods type of person. We as consumers have to actively assess which products and services we make use of, because the unfortunate reality is that so many supply chains are still tainted with the exploitation of men, women and children.

Any donation amount will be highly appreciated! All funds will go directly to National Freedom Network in support of the amazing counter-human trafficking work that they do.

Feel free to follow my progress during December on Liberation Legal Consulting's facebook page, where I will be posting regular updates of my journey, looking at how many foods contain added sugars and also how labour trafficking occurs within the sugar cane sector.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my Freecember challenge and for your donation ;-)
