Personal message

This year I am excited to do the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg 25km Mountain Bike Race to raise funds and awareness for Rainbows and Smiles -a childhood cancer foundation close to my heart.
 
In 2016 I met my fantastic friend Vikeshlin Govender. He is the kindest, bravest and most determined boy that I know. 
 
In September 2017, his younger sister Shanaya was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma. She bravely fought this horrible disease for two long years, including having her arm amputated to save her life. 

On the 16th of May 2019, the bravest girl I knew lost the battle she always fought with a smile. This was very hard on Vikeshlin, so he continuously strives to help raise awareness and funds to assist other children with cancer. 
 
I hope that by doing this race, I can, in some small way, help my friend, all children fighting childhood cancer and aid in preserving Shanaya's legacy.
 
Please help me reach my goal of R2000 and maybe even more if possible. Every little bit helps; even just telling your friends and family about this backabuddy page can save lives. Please be a hero by showing your commitment and compassion toward all families fighting this battle.
