My name is Melissa
I am a parent who sees this daily and it is heart breaking to see.
I would like to start a fund raiser for kids who do not have stationary, uniform and transportation for school. (A microbus) to pick them up and drop them off )
Most of the parents can not afford it due to unemployment.
Most of the kids also dont have lunch and the school can only do so much.
There are almost 178 kids who's parents are unemployed and can not afford anything.
The stationary packs for the kids range anything from R600- R800 depending on needs. (Incl toiletries) per child
In the high school, there's a large nr of school learners who has the opportunity to excel in school and are being compromised due to the parents who cant afford the required necessities.
Their exams start in march and some dont have the necessary stationary and books
(The stationary price varies as they have different subject requirements etc. An engineering graphic design set goes for R600 per set
And stationary packs R650-R850 per child
And the kids who dont have lunch or haven't since someone gave them lunch the day before will receive lunch everyday in order to focus and not be hungry during the day.
In order to raise the funds it will give the kids the confidence to have a better education for the year without having to worry about how who where or why.
All funds raised will be spent on stationary
Uniforms and if any left to transport (microbus) the kids to and from school everyday to ensure they are safe.
When festive season starts i would like to hand each child a food parcel and present.
Please help me help these kids have a better year than last year.
